Opposite the chapel of the Black Madonna, the Museum of Sacred Art occupies six levels, clinging to the cliff of Rocamadour. The museum reveals the history of faith, through collections of sacred artworks, archaeology and pictures.
Visitors to the museum discover the development of the Christian faith and the history of this centre for pilgrimage. This is a vertically oriented space, arranged around a tall central glass case where precious objects are displayed, counterpointed by historical information displayed along the facing walls. The illumination of the pieces themselves is the only source of light to guide the visitor through various themed exhibits. A small rock-walled space for temporary exhibitions completes the remodel.
